Approach to the documentary sources of the Historical Archive of the Municipality of San Marcos and its importance in the different perspectives of historical research (1745-1882)

History, memory and archive are the essential elements in the right to know and to know the relationships of the past processes of our different societies. The primary documentary sources are custody as a value of consciousness and individual identity towards the collective, they are the essential resources of researchers and represent the scientific nature of the historical discipline. The creation of the Historical Archive of the Municipality of San Marcos, is the current project, which, through the General Directorate of Research of the University of San Carlos de Guatemala through the Research Institute of the University Center of San Marcos, allows generating the conditions for historical research with an impact on local, regional, national and Central American knowledge. It is intended to make a laconic approach to the documentary material that until now has been kindly consulted and that in a preliminary analysis reveals the content and importance of the documentary deposit.
